Urgent action needed: defend Amazon KCVG workers!

By Workers Strike Back. Published May 14, 2023

Two weeks ago, three members of the union Organizing Committee at Amazon’s KCVG air hub in northern Kentucky were removed from their positions as Learning Ambassadors by Amazon management.

This is blatant anti-union retaliation, which is illegal under the National Labor Relations Act.

“Learning Ambassadors” train all new hires at Amazon, including managers. They are the first coworkers that new hires meet, and are seen as some of the most reliable workers at the air hub.

Management clearly removed these three workers as Learning Ambassadors because they don’t want new hires to be trained by leaders of the union. The company is hoping that removing these workers from their prominent positions will make it easier to spread anti-union lies.

Workers Strike Back supporters around the country have already started making calls to KCVG management to demand reinstatement of Steven, Braeden, and Nick to their positions as Learning Ambassadors.

Workers at KCVG are fighting for a $30/hour starting wage, 180 hours Paid Time Off, and union representation at disciplinary meetings to fight back against retaliation and favoritism, which is rampant at Amazon. Amazon knows that if workers get organized, they can win these demands, so management is doing everything they can to stop the union drive.

Nick, Braeden, and Steven were not fired, but they were removed from their long-standing positions as Learning Ambassadors. Adding insult to injury, Amazon asked them to stay on as Learning Ambassadors until they trained their replacements. The workers said no, and immediately resigned their ambassador positions.

They confronted management directly at their morning stand-up meeting. This action was crucial for exposing the truth, and for demonstrating to co-workers that they don’t have to take management’s abuse lying down.

We need mass action now to show the Amazon bosses that the community has KCVG workers’ backs. Here’s how you can help:
