February 2025 Organizing Conference: Fight the Rich & Their Two Parties

  • Langston Hughes Performing Arts Center Langston Hughes Performing Arts Seattle, WA United States (map)

We need to use our momentum from getting out the vote for Jill Stein's antiwar pro-worker campaign to fight the rich and their two parties. To end the wars and the genocide in Gaza. To fight against racism, sexism, and all forms of oppression. To organize protests and strike actions to win a $25/hour minimum wage, Medicare for All, quality affordable housing, and good union jobs for all.

Both Democrats and Republicans are a dead end for workers, the union movement, and the antiwar struggle. We urgently need a new, independent, antiwar, working-class party that can take on the billionaires & warmongers and BREAK the two-party system.

Frequently Asked Questions

When and where are the events?

The events will take place Feb 22-23 in Seattle at the Langston Hughes Performing Arts Center. Both the Organizing Conference (Feb 22) and Workers Strike Back Convention (Feb 23) will run 10am-5pm.

Are the events open to everyone?

The Organizing Conference on Saturday, Feb 22 is open to everyone. Working people from around the country will be there, joining Chris Hedges, Jill Stein, Kshama Sawant, and representatives from multiple organizations. It will also be streamed online, though we strongly urge you to attend in person.

The Workers Strike Back Convention – which takes place on the following day, Sunday, Feb 23 – is a closed event for Workers Strike Back members only. You must be a Workers Strike Back member in order to attend and vote at the convention. Sign up now to become a member of Workers Strike Back.

Is there a registration fee?

No, the conference and convention will be free to attend. However, it does take resources to organize this event, and we rely on donations from Workers Strike Back members and supporters. Please sign up to become a dues-paying member of Workers Strike Back or make a one-time donation to help make the event a success.

When should I arrive in Seattle?

The conference will begin at 10 am on Saturday, Feb 22. We encourage you to arrive a day early, on Friday, Feb 21, to ensure you can make it to the conference on time. If you are flying, you should schedule your flight to SeaTac airport. The travel time between the venue and the airport is about 1 hour via public transit.

Where should I stay in Seattle?

The Langston Hughes Performing Arts center is located in Seattle's Central District, which is a bit outside the main hotel districts, but is well connected with public transportation.

We recommend staying at a hotel in a nearby neighborhood, such as Capitol Hill or Pioneer Square, or staying in a rental in the Central District, such as an Airbnb.

Langston Hughes is accessible from the 8, 48, and 14 bus lines, as well as the First Hill streetcar which connects to the Capitol Hill and Pioneer Square neighborhoods. Capitol is a popular neighborhood, so prices tend to be higher there than other areas.

Here are some hotel options that would be convenient for the conference:

  • Pioneer Square: Best Western Plus Pioneer Square, CitizenM Seattle Pioneer Square

  • Capitol Hill: Silver Cloud Inn, Hotel Sorrento

If you want to widen your search geographically in search of cheaper rates, any hotel with access to the Link light rail will enable an easy transfer to the First Hill streetcar or one of these bus options. For example, the University District has several such options such as Staypineapple University Inn.

The Link light rail runs north-south from SeaTac Airport in the south to Lynwood in the north, roughly along the I-5 corridor. You can find a map of light rail stops here.

Will there be childcare available?

Yes, childcare will be available on an as-needed basis, provided by experienced caregivers. If you need childcare, you must register in advance by February 1 so we can be sure to have the resources needed to provide adequate care. This is earlier than the general registration deadline so we have time to make sure all needs can be met at the conference.

We will connect parents with caregivers ahead of time to proactively address important needs. Childcare will be on-site at the venue.

No one will be charged a fee for childcare, but a one time donation goes a long way towards helping provide adequate childcare.

What are the COVID/health protocols for the conference?

The disastrous, profit-driven response of the Biden and Trump administrations to the COVID pandemic over the last five years has left working people to deal with the reality of living and working with COVID as a permanent reality. Most state support, including testing, has been revoked, and businesses have largely returned to operating without protections for workers or customers.

We aim to take reasonable health precautions at the conference, while also recognizing the current reality. No one who tests positive for COVID should attend the conference, and we ask that anyone experiencing even mild symptoms (cough, congestion, etc.) exercise precaution, including by wearing a mask, which will be available free of charge at the event. Masks will not, however, be required. We encourage those who have additional health concerns to practice social distancing at the conference, and we will have a seating area designated for this purpose.

I have other questions. How do I get in touch?
Please send an email to solidarity@workersstrikeback.org with any further questions, and a Workers Strike Back organizer can respond as soon as possible.
